Imagine the following scenario:
“A competent adult of sound mind, who is healthy — not terminally ill nor suffering from disease — has irrevocably decided to end their life. They have passed rigorous safeguards against coercion, reflected honestly and deeply over time, and consulted medical, mental health professionals, and other competent resources to discuss their questions. After all of those steps, the competent adult makes their final decision: ‘I will end my own life.’”
Should the State:
(A) Criminalize assistance, forcing them into violent, illegal methods (gunshot, jumping, illicit drugs), or (B) permit regulated assistance so they can exercise their autonomy safely and effectively?
If you believe Option B respects freedom and bodily autonomy, we need your support to advance this project: follow @EOL_Liberty on Twitter/X (additional ways to support our legal advocacy will be available in the coming weeks).
